Where have you been?!

Yes, I’ve gotten your emails and messages and I’m here. I just to happen to be preparing for a huge thing called MY WEDDING which is a mere 19 days away. Honestly, I haven’t been running much unless you count running to work, running to vendor meetings, running errands, running a household. I would say that has been my running for the past two months. I do, however, get in plenty of walking which has been therapeutic.

The hectic world of wedding planning took over my life but that’s ok. I’m back it and I’m training. Yes, I got up off my bride-to-be but and signed up for a 5K in July. I need to get back on the running circuit again. I’ve been being out there and Lord knows I need all the running I can get these days.

I was supposed to be 2 sizes smaller on my wedding day and I’m about a size smaller and perfectly fine with that. I’m not stressing this weight loss because I know it will happen. What doesn’t happen is dropping the weight overnight while trying ot balance a career, motherhood and this little thing called life. Nonetheless, I am hanging in there and looking forward to getting myself back on track.

I completed the JellyBean 5K tonight and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Amazing how new inserts can make a difference with your running. A couple of my girlfriends joined me and we had a blast. We talked the entire time and didn't realize how far we had gone LOL.

Remember that short term goal I set for myself to run every day this week? Yea, that didn't even happen. BUT  I did manage to make my way down to Big Peach Running Company in Downtown Decatur to get some new inserts for my running shoes. I'm really glad I got to visit that store. I see what all the hype is about. The staff there is really sweet and cool and was so helpful to me.

This weekend is a pretty busy one with our engagement photo shoot and a birthday party, I really have no idea when I may get a run in but I will get one in somehow. Besides, I still need to do my 5K for the Jellybean Run. Well, have a great Easter Weekend everyone!

Monday, March 25, 2013

This week I have decided to set a weekly short term goal. My goal this week is to work out at least 5 times this week, get to bed by 10pm-10:30pm each night and RELAX! We have hit the 69 mark with the wedding and I’m getting a little nervous and antsy. I really can’t take any time off until we get closer to the wedding date so I want to make sure I am staying balanced by physically and mentally as things start to ramp up.
Any short term goals this week?

Friday, March 22, 2013

Hey guys! My apologies for disappearing yet again. The wedding has me all caught up in planning, not to mention my son playing tee ball this spring and I'm serving as team mom.

Last week I completed the Nike Women's Virtual 10k. This by far has been my hardest race to run. I love virtual races because you can do them when you want but I honestly was not prepared at all for this one. Not only had I slacked on my training a few weeks before, but I was unmotivated. I ALMOST skipped it but my  fiancĂ©e reminded me to just do it and be done with it.

After pushing and an epic playlist, I finished it. Right around mile 4 was when I wanted to quit but Foster the People got me over that hump.

My time for this race wasn't my best but I survived it. Next up is the Jellybean 5K with Jess of Run With Jess. I'm so excited!

Special thanks to Val, one of my Twitter buddies, who found a great interview on Black Girl Long Hair that featured Polliany showcasing her natural hair on her wedding day. I've been spending a lot of time researching natural hairstyles to wear for my wedding day and this ranking in the top 5.

Polliany's hair looks absolutely perfect and is a reflection of her personality. I love it! I think I will test out this style in the coming months.
